  • The Silver Cloud III was first displayed to the public at the Paris salon at the beginning of October 1962. External dimensions were slightly altered, the interior remodelled, the weight reduced by a little over 100 kg (220 lb) and improvements made to the engine which included fitting 2-inch (51 mm) SU carburettors in place of the 1.75 inch units used on the Silver Cloud II. The compression ratio was increased to 9:1, reflecting the higher octane levels of premium fuel in major markets, although the option of a lower 8:1 compression ratio was still offered in markets where non-availability of higher octane fuels might be an issue. Increased power and weight reduction boosted speed and performance slightly. The engine now included a nitride hardened crankshaft to reflect the extra power being generated. The 4-speed auto transmission was a GM "Hydramatic" which Rolls-Royce used under licence. Finished in its original Sand over Sable livery with beige hide interior, this 1965 Cloud III has had just 3 former owners since March 1965 and comes complete with the original 1965 GREEN Log Book. To reassure prospective buyers regarding the motorcar's mechanical integrity, it drove from Rome to Lymington, Hampshire in January 2022. First registered to W. & J.B. Eastwood of Bilthsthorpe Notts on 01-03-1965, where it remained until being acquired by Barrie Norman Gibson in August 1974. It appears that the motorcar stayed with Mr Gibson into the 2000's when it seems to have been placed into storage until being recommissioned for the road in 2016, by the Gibson family. Best described as a very honest motor car, which would benefit from some cosmetic improvements. This very elegant Silver Cloud III is offered complete with 15 previous MoT certificates, MoT printouts from 2007 to 2019, recent invoices in the amount of £2,000++ for parts and works, an owners handbook, Factory Build records, comprising Chassis Card, multi page history and Factory Invoice, from the RREC Archive, the current V5 and the original Green Log Book. The current registered keeper has advised us that he equipped the motorcar with Electronic ignition, in order to improve reliability.
